How to enhance your living room with small furniture items

Hello everyone, today i will be sharing how you can enhance the beauty of your living room with little effort.

Whether living on your own or with a family, your living room is an important space. This room is where your family spends time together, and it is the room most of your guests will spend the majority of their time in.

Choosing furniture that creates a pleasant, welcoming appearance while holding up against the wear and tear of everyday life is the key in getting this space to work for your needs.

The following furniture items can be used to enhance your living room. They are:
  • Nested Stool
A set of nested stools is an item of furniture which can be used in the living room for variety of things, such as sitting, displaying antiques, or just nesting them as a set of decorating furniture item.

They are made in three pieces which are of different sizes. They can fit perfectly into each other.

  • Side Board
A sideboard is an item of furniture traditionally used in the dining room for serving food, for displaying serving dishes such as silver, and for storage. It usually consists of a set of cabinets, or cupboards, and one or more drawers, all topped by a flat display surface. The overall height of the tops of most sideboards is approximately waist level. (900mm)

This can also serve as bookshelf, tv stand, china display unit.

  • Book shelf
A bookcase, or bookshelf, is a piece of furniture, almost always with horizontal shelves, used to store books. It may be fitted with glass doors. A bookcase consists of a unit including two or more shelves which may not all be used to contain books or other printed materials. Shelves may be fixed or adjustable to different positions in the case. In rooms entirely devoted to the storage of books they may be permanently fixed to the walls and/or floor.

Google Sketchup, the life changer!

I discovered Google Sketchup in early 2011 and the software changed my life!

Let me tell you a little bit about my self. I studied Quantity Surveying, Served my country in 2009 at a furniture manufacturing company Priestwood Furniture Limited, Abuja. It was during my service year that I really knew what I wanted to do with my life. All along, I was like the regular student that went to school, studied each course to pass and graduated with the regular colours so no need to fly. I was just taking each day at a time never wanted to think about the future.

During my service year, I got interested in interior design, of course I had no choice as that was what I had to do for the whole service year. I started drawing kitchen and wardrobe cabinets on paper, then a colleague taught me how to use the basic AutoCad 2d.

With my small laptop, hp dv 6000, a birthday gift from my uncle. I started doing 2D designs. AutoCad could be frustrating especially if you have seen 3D churned out by other sisters softwares.

December 2010, I devoted my time to learning the AutoCad in to-to, I started drawing in isometric at least it looks like 3D to me!

All along, I have been checking and downloading various 3D drawings from the internet. Did I mention earlier that i had a great companion in my phone Nokia E63, coupled with free cheats from various network providers (had all the sim cards back in the day) I even created a blog, posting cheats and tweaks online ( that's a gist for another article)

On a certain Wednesday afternoon, as I was browsing, I searched for this keyword "interior design software download for free" on Google. And voila! Google Sketchup came out! The download option as well, but having low network reception I couldn't download the 350mb software. I knew right there that my free cheats won't be able to handle this, so I subscribed for a data bundle on a network provider.

Now, far back in 2010-2011, i could count the numbers of cities in Nigeria with 3G on this particular network provider. All i could get on my phone was Edge, this can't download 350mb! I had to take a bus to a particular location where they have stable 3G reception; remember this was early 2011. I climbed the uncompleted 4 story building, stopped at the 3rd floor and started download the software.

After about an hour, I finished downloading, my phone battery was so hot then it could boil noddles. I quickly rushed home transferred the software from my phone to my laptop and installed.

Watch-out for the continuation sometime soon.

Today at Work #140714

Kitchen Perspective 1

Hi everyone, today i designed kitchen and wardrobe cabinets for a client today 14/07/2014.

1. Kitchen

Kitchen Perspective 2
The kitchen layout shows an expansive space with a lot of room to work with, but the client just wanted a particular portion of the space to be used for cabinets. The laminate color used for the design is Romana Cherry & Tobacco Aida Walnut. The darker shade is the Tobacco Aida and it works well with the Romana Cherry or any other lighter laminate brand.
Island
I saw the design for this particular island while i was browsing sometime ago, and when this client requested for an island in her kitchen i quickly modeled the island and it fits perfectly into the space.

2. Wardrobe
Perspective

The open shoe rack cabinet in this design is 900w x 600d x 2000h. it consists of 7 layers of double shoe rack. (although the inner layer cannot be seen from the design)

Each layer can fit 8 pair of shoes, this means that a total of 56 pairs can actually fit into the cabinet.

You can see from the elevation below that two hangers are implored into the wardrobe

Thanks for checking my blog today, hope to see more of your visit.

Sunday Capsule (what If.....?)

     WHAT IF?

Today, I will be taking you through some mind bugging questions about past events that occurred thousands of years ago and were recorded in the bible. What if an event had happened the other way round would it have changed God's plan?

Let us start from the old Testaments, I really love reading the Old testament, it's seems to be my favorite part of the Bible with so many stories and lessons as well.
  • What if Eve had not eaten the fruit of good and evil? Would we all be in the garden of Eden? I doubt that. God knew Adam and Eve will still fail! He is the all knowing God, he knows the end from the beginning. Genesis 3 vs 6
  • What if Esau did not sell his birthright? Would he had received his father's blessings and all? Genesis 27 vs 28 - 29. I doubt that also, I guess it was all part of the plan that Esau will sell his place and Rebecca will aid younger son to deceive their father and be blessed.
  • What if King Saul has being obedient to the God's word and that of the prophet Samuel and had not spared the life of King Agag and those livestock's or offered the first sacrifice that costed him the throne? Would he have found favour in the eyes of God, would he have been the king till his death? maybe Jesus would have come from the tribe of the Benjamites and not Judah as it happened. 1 Samuel 13 - 15
  • What if Uzzah had not tried (in his own eyes) to rescue the Ark of God from falling? Do you think the Ark of God would have fallen to the ground because the oxen stumbled? I doubt that too. 2 Samuel 6 vs 6 -8.
  • What if King David had not laid with Uriah's wife "Bathsheba"? 2 Samuel 11 vs 4 Don't forget that the linage of the sons of Bathsheba brought Jesus! what if?
  • What if Gehazi had not followed Naaman to request for what was not sent him by Elisha, would he have turned out to be another great Prophet? Remember Elisha got double portion of Elijah's anointing. Imagine how Gihazi would have ended up with! 2 Kings 5 vs 1 - 27
  • What if Judas did not betray Jesus?
  • What if Jesus had continued to pray that the cup pass over him? don't even think far, he knew he was to die for the sins of the world and he volunteered to do so. He knew he will be betrayed and persecuted by the people he was to die for. He knew all these were to happen. Remember that the word of the lord shall not return void! Isaiah 55 vs 11
The word of the Lord can never change. He knows what is to be even before the existence of the world. I guess all that happened were scripts which had been written by the creator. We are all just acting out our part according to his plans.

As always the comment section is below, say whatever you feel about the topic.
